Book D,page Register. Beed from J. L. Hackney and wife, Mintie D. Hackney, to Hobert Quillen. This Indenture, Made this 22nd day of April, A.D. 1942, between J. L. Hackney and wife, Mintie D. Hackney, of Blount County, in the State of Tennessee, of the first part, and Robert Quillen of Blount County, Tennessee, of the second part, V!ITNESSETH: That the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the SU.'D. of One Hundred ('1~100.00) Dollars to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt of which is ~ereby acknowledged, and for and in the further consideration of One Hundred and Fifty ($150.00) Doltars evidenced by one certain promissory note, dated April 17, 1942, due ahd payable twelve months after date, with . interest from date at the rate of 6% pel annum, payable annually, and to secure the payment of said note a spe~ific lien is hereby retained on the nroperty here conveyed, hav e ~ranted, bargained, sold, and conveyed, and do hereby grant, bargain, sell, and convey unto the said party of the second part, the following described premises, to-wit, sit~te in District No.: 11 of Loudon County, Tennessee, and more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at a post oak, corner to the land formerly owned by George Griffetbs, thence with the sa'!le North 36 East 32 5/10 chains to a dead pine on a line of the lands formerly owned by John Griffeths; thence with the same South 50 ~ast 14 chains to a stake , corner to the lands formerly owned by Long; thence with the same and his own land South 55 West 59 chains to a stake, corner to the lands owned by Earlen Ma tthews, thence with the same North 21 East 20.5 chains to a stake on a line of t he lands formerly owned by George Griffeths, thence with the same South 70 East 11 5/10 chains to the beginning, containing 10 acres, more or less. But there is expressly excepted and reserved out of said above described lands a certain ,. tract or parcel of land formerly conveyed to the Colored Church, and described as follows: BEGINNING on chestnut corner to Dr. Laine, thence with said Laine's line Noths 23 East . 12 6/10 chains to a stake; South 49 East 7 chains to a hickory; South 55 West 12 2/10 ! chains to the beginning, containing by estimation 1 acre and 16 poles. Said above described property is the same that was conveyed by w. E. Sheddan to F . R • .. ~ND M. J. Hackney, by deed which is of record in the Register's Office for Loudon County, Tennessee, in Deed Book No.5, pages 159-160; and is the same land be1onging to said J.L. Hackney, one of the parties of the first part, as the heir at law of said F. R. and M. J. aackney, deceased. With the hereditaments and appurtenances thereto appertaining , hereby releasing all claim to homestead and dower therein; To Have and to Hold the said premises to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, forever. And the said parties of the first part, for themselves and for their heirs, executors, and administrators, do hereby covenant with the said party of the second part, his he i. rs and assigns, that they are lawfully seized in fee-simple of the premises above conveyed, and have full power~ authority, and right to convey the same; that sai~ premises. are free from all encumbrances except the State and County taxes for 1942, wh 1 ch the sa1d party of the second part assQ~es and agrees to pay, and tha t they wi ll forever warrant and defend the said premises and the title thereto a g ainst the lawful claims of all per-ll
