"Know all Men by These Presents, That Lucas T. Bosly, of the County of Rutherford, State of Tennessee, held and firmly bound to United States of America in the sum 75 cents [illegible], for the payment of which I bind myself Heirs, Executors and Administrators, firmly, by these presents, in this Contract: That I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined, (freed laborers,) Quarters, Fuel, substantial, and health Rations, and the amount set opposite their respective names per month, during the continuation of this Contract---the laborers to be paid in full before the final disposal of the crop which is to begathered by them on Lucas T Bosly plantation, in the county of Rutherford, State of Tennessee. [chart] This Contract is to commence with this date and close the 20th of December 1865. Given, in duplicate, at Chattanooga, this fifteenth day of September, 1865." [signature] |
