Cemetery

150
years
old
and
is
the
resting
place
for
many
African
Americans
in the
area
. In
1959
, the
cemetery
was
extended
after
John
Proffitt
,
trustee
of the
Russellville
A.M.E
Zion
Church
,
transferred
the
land
where
the
church
was to the
cemetery's
trustees
.
Bewley's
Chapel
Church
, a
block
away
from the
cemetery
,
acquired
the
cemetery
land
.
