Historical Notes |
According to the church history, the first Walnut Grove MB congregation originally worshiped in a brush arbor. The first church building was built in 1881 while Reverend Ed Hicks was pastor. In 1922 the current building was constructed under the leadership of Reverend Paul Lawrence Freeman. The church was then remodeled in 1983 when Reverend S.P. Sanders was pastor. At the time the 2001 survey was taken, Reverend Clarence Williams Sr. was pastor, who was the 13th pastor of the church. Other former pastors include Reverend Jake Dawson, Reverend John Jernigan, Reverend Anderson Jones, Reverend John H. Poe, Reverend W. C. Chism, Reverend Timothy Grimes, Reverend O. W. Hoyle, and Reverend U. D. Lewis. |
