. In
it
he
comments
on
three
topics
: the
condition
of
African
Americans
in
Murfreesboro
and
Rutherford
County
, the
Ku
Klux
Klan
and their
activities
, and the
labor
market
.
Dean
comments
on the
further
solidification
of
sharecropping
as the
dominant
agricultural
economic
model
in the
county
, and how
employers
are
taking
advantage
of those
who
sharecrop
on their
land
. As for the
Klan
,
Dean
remarks
that they
paraded
in
Murfreesboro
once
during
the
month
and have
kept
up
their
practice
of
intimidation
and
assault
.
