notes
that the
general
condition
of
Murfreesboro
and
Rutherford
County
is
good
.
Walsh
reports
the
amount
of
bounty
paid
out
by the
Bureau
office
in
Murfreesboro
over
the
last
month
.
Walsh
notes
that
once
African
American
soldiers
are
paid
their
bounty
money
they
leave
the
area
for
other
states
.
Walsh
remarks
that
“The
freedmen
do
not
assign
one
either
(a
reason
for
leaving
the
area)
only
that they
want
to
go
home.”
Walsh
finishes
his
report
commenting
on the
perceived
power
of the
courts
in
Murfreesboro
, the
conditions
of the
labor
market
, etc.
