Historical note |
Benson Lossing (1813-1891), a journalist and illustrator in New York City, published a narrative sketchbook on the American Revolution in 1853. He attempted a similar project after the Civil War, creating ink drawings to turn into wood engravings for publication. The Tennessee State Museum owns a small collection of drawings he made in Tennessee, including this image. |
