"Whereas RT Tompkins, executor of James M Tompkins deceased, recovered a judgement for the sum of thirty-four hundred and ninety four and 33/100 dollars ($3494.33) debt and costs against Peter Lowery, President, Samuel Lowery, Secretary, and Peter Lowery, Samuel Lowery, LaFayette Robinson, Boyd Johnson, Frederick Dodson, and Samuel Davis - Trustees of the Turnpike Manual Labor UNiversity in the Chancery Court for Rutherford County, Tennessee on 6th day of June 1874, and upon which judgment an execution was issued by N.B. Black, Clerk and Master of said court, on the 8th day of September 1874, and which came to my hands as Sheriff of said county on the 9th day of September 1874, and there being no personal property of the said defendents to be found in the said county on which to buy said execution for the satisfaction thereof, I levied the same on the 9th day of September, 1874, on a certain tract of land, as the property of said defendants. Containing, by estimation, fifty seven and two-thirds acres, lying in the 9th Civil District of Rutherford County, State of Tennessee. beginning at a stake in the middle of the Nashville and Murfreesboro Turnpike Road, west of the US Cemetery, running north 145 and a half poles to a stake at the river, thence south to west, 32 poles to a stake, thence west 32 and a half poles to a stake, thence north 18 poles to a stake in the Railroad, thence West 27 poles to a stake, thence south 17 poles to a stake, thence west 20 poles to a stake; thence south 29 poles to the middle of the said Turnpike Road." |
