Sisters

McBeth
(1830-1893)
and
Kate
McBeth
(1833-1915)
were
missionary
teachers
to the
Nez
Percé
in
North-central
Idaho
during
the
last
quarter
of the
19th
century
. In
addition
to
documenting
their
interactions
with the
Nez
Percé
tribe
and
federal
agents
appointed
to
supervise
the
reservation
, this
collection
highlights
the
bitter
feuds
between
the
sisters
. The
collection
includes
more
than
150
of
Sue
McBeth's
letters
;
Kate
McBeth's
diary
; and
correspondence
by
ministers
and
government
agents
.
