Description |
This collection includes more than 2,700 photographs by Frances Benjamin Johnston (1864-1952) in the course of her career as a photojournalist, portrait and architectural photographer. Particularly noteworthy are Johnston's photographs of Washington, D.C. schools and such minority educational institutions as the Hampton Institute and the Tuskegee Institute. The collection also includes more than 1,000 hand-colored photos of gardens and houses. |
